We are currently conducting studies on the Surinka Green Hydrogen/Green Ammonia Project in Moquegua, Southern Peru. The name «Surinka» pays homage to the Suri, an indigenous running bird endemic to the region, and reflects Moquegua’s rich Inca, Wari, and Tiahuanaco heritage.

We are the first Peruvian company aiming to develop the country’s first large-scale green hydrogen project, proposing a feasible scale with an accessible domestic market.

Surinka is a pioneering project in Peru focused on the production of green ammonium nitrate, a key input for mining explosives. By leveraging renewable energy and sustainable processes, Surinka aims to reduce CO₂ emissions in the copper mining industry, helping to decarbonize the production of copper—a critical mineral for the global energy transition.

The Surinka project is located in Moquegua, southern Peru, an ideal location due to its exceptionally high solar radiation levels, among the highest in the world. Peru is the second-largest copper producer globally, and 15% of its copper is produced in Moquegua.

Moquegua’s high solar radiation levels make it an ideal location for solar energy generation, contributing to the project’s energy needs. The region already produces over 80% of Peru’s solar energy, positioning Moquegua as the country’s primary solar hub.

Additionally, due to its coastal location, the Surinka project plans to install a desalination plant to ensure a steady water supply for the electrolysis process needed to produce hydrogen.

Recent studies demonstrate highly competitive economics, justifying the advancement of the project to the FEL 1 stage.
